Baseball Game Preview: Great Oak Wolfpack vs. Murrieta Mesa Rams

The Great Oak Wolfpack will head out on the road to challenge the Murrieta Mesa Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Great Oak and six for Murrieta Mesa.

On Friday, Great Oak came up short against Temecula Valley and fell 9-5.

Great Oak got a good showing from Devin Cuellar, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Cuellar has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jack Apodaca was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Landon Benavides also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Murrieta Mesa also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Vista Murrieta by a score of 6-2.

Jameson Minnett was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Murrieta Mesa is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Murrieta Mesa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shayne Garland, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Great Oak's record is now 11-9-1. As for Murrieta Mesa, their record now sits at 10-12.

Great Oak skirted past Murrieta Mesa 9-8 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolfpack since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
