Basketball Recap: Hazen's Losing Streak Snapped at 13 Games

Hazen can finally bid farewell to their 13-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They managed a 54-49 victory over the Juanita Ravens. That's more bragging rights for the Highlanders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hazen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rydan Corwin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Malik Gilbert was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Hazen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Hazen's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Juanita, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Hazen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-52 defeat against Liberty on the 19th. As for Juanita, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-79 victory against Auburn Riverside on the 20th.
