Baseball Game Preview: Plymouth Panthers vs. Manitowoc Lincoln Ships

The Plymouth Panthers will head out to face off against the Manitowoc Lincoln Ships at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Plymouth is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Berlin 19-5 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Oliver Picard was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Carter Pratt also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Plymouth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Manitowoc Lincoln sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Green Bay Southwest on Thursday.

The team relied heavily on Cade Grapentine, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Vance Schroeder was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Manitowoc Lincoln pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Plymouth, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Plymouth came up short against Manitowoc Lincoln in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 8-3. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
