Softball Recap: Atrisco Heritage Academy Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

Atrisco Heritage Academy got themselves on the board against Del Norte on Saturday, but Del Norte never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Knights. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.

Savannah Lujan was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Atrisco Heritage Academy got a massive performance out of Aalyiah Chavez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave Chavez a new career-high. Jazelle Romero was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Atrisco Heritage Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Atrisco Heritage Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Del Norte, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atrisco Heritage Academy will welcome Albuquerque at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Del Norte, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against West Mesa at 4:00 p.m. The Knights are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
