Football Recap: Orofino Maniacs vs. Non Varsity Opponent

Orofino gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 34-0 victory over Non Varsity Opponent. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Maniacs as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Johnny Starrs went supernova for Orofino, rushing for 171 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Starrs' longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Jacob Scott was another key back, rushing for 60 yards and two touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Orofino's defense and their three sacks. Eddie Harrison was especially locked on to Non Varsity Opponent's QB and sacked him twice. Harrison's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making six total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orofino will welcome Payette at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Chillicothe at 6:00 p.m.
