Basketball Recap: Goddard Comes Up Short

Goddard played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 58-28 defeat at the hands of the Portales Rams. The Rockets have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Goddard's loss came despite strong showings from Natalie Hardwick and Carmen Grado. Hardwick posted eight points and 11 boards, while Grado put up 11 points and six rebounds. Hardwick has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmin De Leon, who earned two points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Goddard's loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Portales, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Coming up, Goddard will challenge Lovington at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Portales, they will welcome Artesia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Artesia has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Portales will come in with five straight wins.
