The Springstead Eagles will square off against the Wesley Chapel Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Two weeks ago, Springstead needed a bit of extra time to put away Hernando. They had just enough and edged out the Leopards 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 18, 2024.

AVA MILLER made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on RACHEL RIVERA, who scored a run while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was KAMIE POND, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
While Wesley Chapel didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They won by a run and slipped past Cypress Creek 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted against the Coyotes since February 27, 2020.
Lucy Cavall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Wesley Chapel's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Juliana Martin, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Springstead's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Wesley Chapel, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Springstead hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Wesley Chapel struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
