Basketball Recap: Boyd County Takes a Loss

After flying high against Burke last Thursday, Boyd County came back down to earth. The Boyd County Spartans took a hard 61-45 fall against the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack on Saturday. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolfpack earlier this season, when they won 46-42.

Despite the loss, Boyd County still got an impressive performance from Charlie Adams, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 20 points. Carson Haun was another key player, putting up seven points and six boards.

Boyd County has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Elgin/Pope John, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-8.

Boyd County will face off against Niobrara/Verdigre at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Boyd County is facing Niobrara/Verdigre at the right time seeing as Niobrara/Verdigre is stuck on a 17-game losing streak. Elgin/Pope John has already played their next match (against Stuart), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
