Softball Game Preview: El Camino Colts vs. Design Tech Dragons

The El Camino Colts are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Design Tech Dragons at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Design Tech took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on El Camino, who comes in off a win.

It looked like the Kentucky Derby when El Camino challenged Lincoln on Saturday. El Camino walked away with a 10-6 victory over Lincoln. The high-scoring effort was just what the Colts needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Alyssa Rueda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Juliana Bazlamit, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahealani Keahi, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Design Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Campolindo, falling 10-1.

Jeneva Fletcher put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. Fletcher was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

The win got El Camino back to even at 1-1. As for Design Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

El Camino might still be hurting after the 15-6 loss they got from Design Tech in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can El Camino avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
