Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Elkhorn South walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Millard North Mustangs a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Storm: when they faced off against the Mustangs on Monday, they had to take a 4-0 defeat.

Not much got past Caleb Uphoff, who gave up just six hits to keep Millard North off the board. Uphoff has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elkhorn South's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Owen Musil, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Elkhorn South is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Millard North, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-12.
