Softball Game Preview: Northwest Jaguars vs. Sherwood Warriors

For the second straight game, Northwest will face off against Sherwood. The Jaguars will take on the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Northwest and Sherwood, and Sherwood kept the tradition alive. The Jaguars came up short against the Warriors on Thursday, falling 9-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Jaguars in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.

For Sherwood's part, Kylie Valios looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Valios has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rylie Friend was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery Anderson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Sherwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Northwest's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2. As for Sherwood, the win keeps they at an undefeated 14-0.
