Recap: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Cedar Valley Aviators
After a string of four wins, the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 57-45 to Cedar Valley.
Maple Mountain lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rachel Messick, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Messick has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shay Brown, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Cedar Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Presley Whiting led the charge by scoring 20 points along with four blocks. That's the first time this season that Whiting scored 15 or more points. Ellie Larson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Maple Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Cedar Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Maple Mountain will head out on the road to take on Manti at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Manti focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday. As for Cedar Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wasatch at 5:15 p.m. Wasatch is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.2 points per game.
