Softball Preview: Appling County Stays on the Road to Face Ware County

The Appling County Pirates' road trip will continue as they head out to face The Ware County Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ware County has given up an average of 8.0 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Appling County's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Emanuel County Institute as they made off with an 8-0 victory. Considering the Pirates have won three contests by more than five runs this season, another big win was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Ware County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 14-6 to Glynn Academy. That's two games in a row now that the Gators have lost by exactly eight runs.

Appling County's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those victories came by way of their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those seven games. As for Ware County, they have now lost 13 of their last 14 games on the road. That's taken a bite out of their 2-7 record this season.
