Softball Recap: Ogilvie Extends Winning Streak to Three

Ogilvie proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 15) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since April 11, 2024.

Mia Sholtz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ruby Beier was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Josie Bitz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

The win was the third in a row for Ogilvie, bringing their record up to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Hinckley-Finlayson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Coming up, Ogilvie will venture away from home to face off against Braham at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hinckley-Finlayson, they will take on Aitkin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gobblers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
