Basketball Game Preview: Simon Kenton Pioneers vs. Mason County Royals

The Simon Kenton Pioneers will head out on the road to square off against the Mason County Royals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Simon Kenton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season.

Simon Kenton can't be too worried about heading out to take on Mason County: they just beat Campbell County at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Simon Kenton strolled past Campbell County with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 68-51. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pioneers.

Jay Bilton was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 10 en route to 29 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bray Bilton, who went 9 for 11 on his way to 20 points.

Meanwhile, Mason County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Beechwood and fell 81-47.

Mason County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Simon Kenton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Simon Kenton suffered a grim 85-62 defeat to Mason County when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Simon Kenton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
