Softball Recap: Athens Wins Going Away Against Muscle Shoals

After only two runs in their last match, Athens made sure to put some runs up on the board against Muscle Shoals on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Trojans. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won 11 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jaicey Harty spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lily Lowery, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexie Thornton, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Athens' record now sits at 18-11. As for Muscle Shoals, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-12.

Coming up, Athens will head out to take on Sparkman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Muscle Shoals, they will welcome Hartselle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
