Preview: Hoopa Valley Warriors vs. South Fork Cubs
Hoopa Valley is 2-8 against the Cubs since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hoopa Valley Warriors will head out on the road to take on the South Fork Cubs at 7:00 p.m. Hoopa Valley is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
On Wednesday, Hoopa Valley had to suffer through a rough 74-38 loss at the hands of the Crusaders. Hoopa Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-16.
Despite the defeat, Hoopa Valley had strong showings from Lyle Mckinnon, who scored 11 points, and Neil Moon, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, South Fork put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 71-41 win over Ferndale at home. Given South Fork's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 487th, while the Wildcats are ranked 1044th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hoopa Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for South Fork, their victory bumped their record up to 17-7.
Hoopa Valley suffered a grim 66-42 defeat to the Cubs in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Hoopa Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
