Baseball Recap: Newark Comes Up Short

If Newark was riding high fresh off their 9-2 takedown of Seneca on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Newark fell just short of the Reed-Custer Comets by a score of 4-3 on Saturday.

Newark saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jimmy Kath, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Newark now has a losing record of 1-2. Reed-Custer has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newark will head out to face off against Marquette at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Marquette will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Newark surely won't give up without a fight. As for Reed-Custer, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Gardner-South Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
