Football Game Preview: Smithfield Sentinels vs. Hope Blue Wave + How To Watch

Smithfield is a perfect 3-0 against Hope since September of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Sentinels will be playing at home against the Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. Smithfield will be strutting in after a win while Hope will be coming in after a defeat.

Smithfield's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Toll Gate, posting a 36-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Hope managed to keep up with Davies Career & Tech until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Blue Wave were beaten by the Patriots 51-20. The Blue Wave have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Hope saw an underclassman step up: freshman Neciah Jalloh rushed for 155 yards and one score while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Jalloh's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Christopher Martinez was another key player, rushing for 57 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

Even if they lost, Hope's defensive line still kept up the pressure with six sacks. Davies Career & Tech's QB won't forget Jonathan Jean-Louis anytime soon given he sacked him 2.5 times. Jean-Louis also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Hope got some further help from James Lipscomb: he forced one fumble and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Smithfield now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Hope, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2.

Smithfield strolled past Hope when the teams last played back in October of 2023 by a score of 21-6. Do the Sentinels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Wave turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
