Baseball Game Preview: Southeast Spartans vs. Classen SAS Comets

For the second straight game, Southeast will face off against Classen SAS. The Spartans will challenge the Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Southeast is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Classen SAS 17-1 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won eight in a row.

Lucas Carpenter and Abraham Varela did most of the damage at the plate: Carpenter got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Varela got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave Varela a new career-high. Julio Jaime also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Southeast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Southeast's win bumped their record up to 5-17. As for Classen SAS, their defeat was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-19.
