Baseball Recap: Copper Hills Takes Down Weber in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Copper Hills rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Weber Warriors by a score of 6-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Grizzlies as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Elijah Steffey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Copper Hills is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-20 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Gage Lintz was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Jace Barker, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Copper Hills' victory bumped their record up to 5-21. As for Weber, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-22 record this season.

Copper Hills will have a chance to go back-to-back against Weber: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
