Softball Recap: Hornell Takes a Loss

If Hornell was feeling good fresh off their 18-3 takedown of Whitman on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Red Raiders came up short against the Haverling Rams on Wednesday, falling 10-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Raiders of the 10-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Izabella Gardner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases.

Hornell's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Haverling, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Hornell will challenge Livonia at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Haverling, they will take on York at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
