Softball Game Preview: Fullerton Indians vs. Ocean View Seahawks

The Fullerton Indians will square off against the Ocean View Seahawks at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ocean View took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Fullerton, who comes in off a win.

Fullerton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Garden Grove on Friday. The Indians have beaten the Argonauts the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Argonauts has come to flipping the script.

Hayley Brock was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylyn Yi, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Fullerton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Ocean View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 14-4 to Kennedy. That's two games in a row now that the Seahawks have lost by exactly ten runs.

Emily Mayorga was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those triples marked the first that she has hit this season.

Fullerton pushed their record up to 18-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Ocean View, their loss dropped their record down to 2-20.

Everything went Fullerton's way against Ocean View when the teams last played on April 11th, as Fullerton made off with a 14-5 win. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Seahawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
