Laikyn Davenport leads a balanced attack to beat Springer

Recap: Animas Panthers vs. Springer Red Devils

The Animas Panthers won the last time they faced the Springer Red Devils, and things went their way on Thursday too. Animas came out on top against Springer by a score of 52-40.

Animas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laikyn Davenport led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Davenport continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Martinez, who scored five points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.

Animas is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Springer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Animas will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Logan on January 19th. As for Springer, they will square off against Quemado at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Quemado is ranked 44th, while Springer is ranked 64th).
