Football Game Preview: Sahuarita Mustangs vs. Pueblo Warriors + How To Watch

The Sahuarita Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Pueblo Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pueblo will be up against a hot Sahuarita squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Mustangs came out on top against Empire by a score of 34-21 on Friday. The Mustangs pushed the score to 27-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Ravens cut but never quite recovered from.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Axel Burgos and Trent Hubble. Burgos rushed for 48 yards and a pair of scores while Hubble gained 95 total yards and a touchdown. Hubble didn't just play on offense: he also made eight total tackles and defended one pass.

Sahuarita's run defense was locked in: Empire could only muster 1.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Nathaniel Gallardo for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sahuarita's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 2.8.

Meanwhile, while Pueblo put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Rio Rico. The Warriors blew past the Hawks, posting a 36-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won six in a row.

The critical scores for Pueblo came from Roman Otero, Fernando Garcia, Jeremiah Sandoval, Andray Rodriguez, and Andrew Armenta.

Pueblo's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Miguel Blanco and Erik Mercado, who racked up four sacks between them.

The victory got Sahuarita back to even at 4-4. As for Pueblo, their record now sits at 5-3.

Sahuarita took a serious blow against Pueblo in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 44-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
