Baseball Preview: Hurricane Tigers vs. Dixie Flyers

Hurricane is 0-10 against Dixie since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hurricane Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Dixie Flyers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Hurricane was able to grind out a solid win over Moapa Valley, taking the game 5-1. The victory was just what Hurricane needed coming off of a 10-3 defeat in their prior matchup.

Landon Stewart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

On the hitting side, Brycen McCauley was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, a triple, and a run. Another player making a difference was Aaron Gonzales, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Dixie waltzed into their match on Friday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 8-2 win. The result was nothing new for Dixie, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Dixie got a big performance out of Max Orton, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Trace Franco was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Hurricane's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Dixie, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
