Softball Recap: Fenwick Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Fenwick dropped their record down to 10-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 4-1 to the Resurrection Bandits. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bandits this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in April.

Fenwick saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Purta, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Resurrection, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

On Resurrection's side, Elizabeth Dorgan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Dorgan has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mia Gurdak was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Madison Kruszewski was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Coming up, Fenwick is taking a road trip to challenge Marist at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Friars will need to watch out since the RedHawks have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups. As for Resurrection, they will venture away from home to take on Saint Ignatius College Prep at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
