Baseball Recap: Hoover Victorious

Hoover was forced to take a big loss against Kearny on Wednesday, they got the better of them on Friday. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Komets 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Komets on Wednesday, they had to take a 21-4 defeat.

Quincy-Enyama Turner was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Turner was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jason Sanchez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Hoover has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Kearny, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.

Coming up, Hoover will welcome Canyon Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rattlers have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. As for Kearny, they will head out to face off against Crawford at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
