Basketball Recap: East Lee County Takes a Loss

East Lee County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a hard 76-62 fall against the Estero Wildcats. The Jaguars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in November of 2023.

Despite the loss, East Lee County still got an impressive performance from Gage Chin, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. Those 15 points gave Chin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joel Trujillo, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, East Lee County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Ashton Peterson was his usual excellent self, putting up 34 points for Estero. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Lasalle, who had 16 points.

East Lee County's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Estero, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-8.

East Lee County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-56 defeat against Stone Ridge Christian on the 4th. As for Estero, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-34 loss against Riverdale on the 4th.
