Softball Recap: St. Bernard Takes a Loss

St. Bernard extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 4-15. They lost 6-0 to the Montville Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 back in April.

As for Montville, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Montville's part, Abby Daniewicz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Daniewicz has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Rori Clark was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, St. Bernard will head out on the road to face off against Killingly at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Montville, they will welcome Bacon Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
