Football Recap: Mandarin Piles Up the Points Against Atlantic Coast

Mandarin won the last time they faced Atlantic Coast and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs took their match with ease, bagging a 54-16 victory over the Stingrays. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Mustangs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Stingrays are ranked 232nd).

Shaunqueze Foster went supernova, rushing for 101 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Knox Annis, who threw for 122 yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mandarin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 288 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Brysen Wright, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Although Atlantic Coast took the loss, they still got scores from Jabari McMillan and Jaylen Pena.

Mandarin's record now sits at 2-0. As for Atlantic Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Mandarin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-0 win against Sandalwood on the 5th. As for Atlantic Coast, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 35-6 defeat against Fletcher on the 5th.
