Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers vs. Gloria Deo Academy

The Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face Gloria Deo Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Jefferson Independent Day's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.

On Thursday, Jefferson Independent Day came up short against Golden City and fell 77-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (56), the Cavaliers still had to take the loss.

Despite the defeat, Jefferson Independent Day got top-tier performance from Jack Twiss, who went 11 of 27 on his way to 32 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The match was Twiss' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kohl Thurman, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Jefferson Independent Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gloria Deo Academy). They came out on top against Southern Missouri RUSH by a score of 63-50 last Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Jefferson Independent Day's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7. As for Gloria Deo Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.
