Baseball Recap: Midland Trail Patriots vs. Summers County Bobcats
Midland Trail extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They lost 14-4 to the Summers County Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on Tuesday.
Greg Cramer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Bailey Tomlin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
As for Summers County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-14-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games.
On Summers County's side, they let Robey Brown and Colten Jones run wild. Brown went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Jones went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Snavely, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Looking ahead, Midland Trail will face off against Wyoming East at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Summers County, they will challenge Greenbrier West at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.9 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
