Softball Game Preview: Denison Yellow Jackets vs. Lovejoy Leopards

The Denison Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to face off against the Lovejoy Leopards at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Denison has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Friday just wasn't the day for Denison's offense. They lost 17-0 to Walnut Grove on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Yellow Jackets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Denison saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jamison Milner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Lovejoy entered their tilt with Anna on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Coyotes an 11-0 shutout. Give the Leopards' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Torii Johannes was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Aubrey Struthers was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Denison dropped their record down to 10-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Lovejoy, their win bumped their record up to 15-8.

Denison might still be hurting after the 12-5 defeat they got from Lovejoy in their previous matchup on March 7th. Can Denison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
