Recap: Orland Trojans vs. West Valley Eagles
The Orland Trojans had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They really took it to West Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-13 win at home. Winning may never get old, but Orland sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Orland was led to victory by Isaac Velasquez and Manny Rodriguez. Velasquez rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry, while Rodriguez gained 221 total yards and four touchdowns. Velasquez was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.
Although West Valley took the loss, they still got scores from Cooper Staup and Chayce Reed.
Orland pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Oroville and 2-8 Willows (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 20.9% over those games). As for West Valley, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Orland will look to defend their home field on Friday against Gridley at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Gridley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Friday. West Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
