Preview: Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators vs. Calvary Christian Academy Patriots

Gulf Pointe Latin is 0-4 against Calvary Christian Academy since November of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Calvary Christian Academy Patriots at 6:15 p.m. on February 9th. Gulf Pointe Latin will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gulf Pointe Latin walked away with it. Everything went their way against the on Thursday as they made off with a 49-26 victory. Gulf Pointe Latin pushed the score to 45-20 by the end of the third, a deficit Covenant Christian cut but never quite recovered from.

Gulf Pointe Latin can attribute much of their success to Coral Hamer, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four blocks, and Holland Hamer, who scored 24 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Hamer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played.

Meanwhile, Calvary Christian Academy didn't have too much trouble with Tate at home last Tuesday as they won 48-29. The win was just what Calvary Christian Academy needed coming off of a 60-34 loss in their prior matchup.

Gulf Pointe Latin now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Gulf Pointe Latin was dealt a bruising 45-13 defeat at the hands of Calvary Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Gulf Pointe Latin was down 32-5.
