Morgan McLaughlin made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kevin Dredger, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Kyle Dredger was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Seven must be Geneseo's lucky number: they beat Notre Dame Academy with that score not once but twice on Sunday. The Blue Devils beat the Gators by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6.
Geneseo's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Bloomfield, their record now sits at 13-4.
Bloomfield took their victory against Geneseo in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 18-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bombers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
