Baseball Recap: Valley Lutheran Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Valley Lutheran had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They never let the Hemlock Huskies get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Chargers have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Varsity Seth Srebinski, who gave up just two hits to keep Hemlock off the board. Seth Srebinski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Varsity Axel Schuette and Varsity Bryce Patterson did most of the damage at the plate: Axel Schuette went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Bryce Patterson went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Varsity Isaac Rupprecht was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

Valley Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Valley Lutheran's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Hemlock, they dropped their record down to 12-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Lutheran will square off against Heston Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hemlock, they will face off against Michigan Lutheran Seminary at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
