Baseball Recap: Oak Hills Takes a Loss

Oak Hills couldn't beat Mason on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Highlanders fell just short of the Comets by a score of 8-7. The Highlanders have struggled against the Comets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Ryan Murphy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since April 1st.

At the plate, Cooper Harrison was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wardwell, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Oak Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Mason, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.

Coming up, Oak Hills will be playing in front of their home fans against Middletown at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mason will be paying especially close attention to the Highlanders' matchup: after the Highlanders face off against the Middies, they'll take on Mason again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
