Cottonwood extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-12 in the process. They came up short against the Granger Lancers, falling 13-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colts of the 20-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Gretta Lewis put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and nine unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Breeya Busey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
As for Granger, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-16. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 26th (when they won 17-2).
Like Cottonwood, Granger also got a great game from a two-way player: Alyiana Arriaga. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Arriaga was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Haylie Harper was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Salazar, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coming up, Cottonwood will face off against Murray at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. As for Granger, they will square off against Taylorsville at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
