Preview: Skyline Raiders vs. DeSoto Eagles
Skyline is 0-4 against DeSoto since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Skyline Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the DeSoto Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Skyline beat Waxahachie 58-54. 58 seems to be a good number for Skyline as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Skyline's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Brown, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and eight steals. Those eight assists set a new season-high mark for her. Tamya Whitemon was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, DeSoto is ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Etiwanda. DeSoto came out on top in a nail-biter against Etiwanda and snuck past 55-52. The win was just what DeSoto needed coming off of a 70-46 defeat in their prior game.
The win makes it two in a row for Skyline and bumps their season record up to 10-8. As for DeSoto, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Skyline took a serious blow against DeSoto when the teams last played back in January, falling 67-36. Can Skyline avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
