Last Friday, Andover faced Central Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Andover narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Central Catholic 22-20.
Andover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dom Papa, who rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 207 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Andover's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Sean Napolitano and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Billerica Memorial didn't have too much trouble with North Andover at home on Friday as they won 41-22. Given Billerica Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while North Andover is ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Andover's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Billerica Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
