Baseball Game Preview: Oakwood Panthers vs. Slocum Mustangs

For the first time this season, Oakwood will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to square off against the Slocum Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakwood has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Oakwood came into their game two weeks ago off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Grapeland, falling 15-0. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Sandies: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Slocum was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 16-1 to Brazos Christian.

Slocum saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Sbrusch, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Slocum's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Oakwood, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 4-4-2.

Oakwood suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Slocum when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Oakwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
