Basketball Recap: Maine East Takes a Loss

Maine East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Maine West Warriors. The Blue Demons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, Maine East still got an impressive performance from Arabella Silva, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Silva also grabbed five steals, which is notable because the Blue Demons are 2-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 0-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Heidi Cortez, who posted five points.

Maine East's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Maine West, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Maine East has already played their next contest, a 48-27 victory against Lincoln Park on the 13th. As for Maine West, they will be home for the holidays to greet Vernon Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
