Baseball Recap: South Laurel's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Six

South Laurel put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Blazer Tomcats with a sharp 10-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Waylon Hensley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Hensley was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Reece Noble and Keaton Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Noble scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Smith scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Will Alsip was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

South Laurel pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season. As for Blazer, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, South Laurel will host Rowan County at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Blazer, they will venture away from home to take on Crescent at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
