Softball Recap: Coleman Takes a Loss

Coleman was the 11-1 winner over Valley Lutheran when they last played one another back in May of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Comets fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 7-6 on Monday.

Kendall Allen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Eliza Lewis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Klaira Sysak was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Coleman's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Valley Lutheran, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Coleman beat the Chargers by a score of 8-0 later that day.
