Football Game Preview: Toledo Boomers vs. Waldport Irish

Toledo is 6-1 against Waldport since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Boomers will square off against the Irish at 7:00 p.m. Waldport took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Toledo, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Toledo got the win against Central Linn by a conclusive 38-13. The Boomers haven't had any issues with the Cobras recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Evan Putnam was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 44 yards and two scores, and also threw for 158 yards and one touchdown on only 12 passes. Deshawn Pfaffle also helped out with an impressive 109 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Waldport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Lowell, falling 54-12. While losing is never fun, the Irish can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Devils are ranked 20th).

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Waldport, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Toledo came up short against Waldport when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 16-12. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Irish's Kelden McNeil, who rushed for 148 yards and one TD, and also threw for 44 yards and one touchdown.
