Baseball Game Preview: Walnut Wildcats vs. Thrasher Rebels

Walnut has gone 7-2 against Thrasher recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Rebels at 2:00 p.m. Walnut is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

On Monday, Walnut came up short against Alcorn Central and fell 10-6.

Meanwhile, Thrasher posted their closest victory since March 18, 2025 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Jumpertown 6-4. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Hunter Pace was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Thrasher: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryton Roberts, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Thrasher's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Walnut, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Walnut got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Thrasher by a conclusive 17-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
