Basketball Recap: Southside Christian Warriors vs. Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans
The Southside Christian Warriors can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Kerr-Vance Academy 48-45. The win was just what Southside Christian needed coming off of a 68-36 loss in their prior match.
Luke Boush was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with three steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Southside Christian's points. Gabe Ansley was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Kerr-Vance Academy had strong showings from Zack Davis, who scored 11 points along with five assists, and Rakia Terry, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tim Hudson, who scored six points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Speaking of assists, Kerr-Vance Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southside Christian only posted five assists.
Southside Christian's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9. As for Kerr-Vance Academy, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.
Southside Christian will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Wilson Christian Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Kerr-Vance Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 6:45 p.m. on January 31st. Fayetteville Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 720 points over their last nine games.
