Baseball Recap: Hudson Drops Season-High Score on Cairo-Durham

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hudson). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cairo-Durham Mustangs an 18-0 shutout on Wednesday. With that victory, the Bluehawks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Antonio Troy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gannon Logue was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Hudson is 6-1 when Logue posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Connor Bryant, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Hudson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Hudson's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-7. As for Cairo-Durham, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Hudson will face off against Rhinebeck at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bluehawks are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cairo-Durham, they will take on Pine Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
